‘Ello ‘ello. Welcome to the site and welcome to my first post!
So this year in short, is quite simply a big and important year.
January
South Africa was all about the quantity of throwing and the quality of training. Something that is much harder to get in my usual life due to work etc. The trip was amazing from both an athlete’s point of view and a tourist point of view. I can highly recommend any athlete that is given the chance to go a camp in Stellenbosch to take it! Weather, facilities, the focus is like no other. Especially for those that are balancing work with training. Never experienced anything like it. From a tourist viewpoint, Table Mountain is a must- even if you’re scared of heights…maybe not if you’re scared of heights. Its quite a long way up. Robben Island was a real insight, Cape Town and Cape Town beaches. Wow. Just go if you get the chance.
Aside from the best January of my life and then possibly the wettest February I’ve ever experienced here in the UK, its all about the month of March and beyond.
March
sees another mini training camp, that I have saved up for, in Portugal, then I will have my first GB match of the season in Lieria, Portugal.
This will be my 3rd Winter Throws Championships and I shall be aiming for good things. I originally planned to go Växjö (Sweden) for the Indoor World Indoor Throws which I have done for the past 2 years but have decided to pull out of that now an focus on training and not travelling too much.
Then it is my 27th birthday on the 30th!!
April
another camp. A self-funded camp for 3 weeks in San Diego. I first went here in 2012 to qualify for the London Olympics. I again found the camp very useful and did manage my qualifications there. I will be looking to secure my spot on the GB team again out there for both the Commonwealth Games and European Championships. I return May 5th when the UK season starts to kick off properly and I shall be in full swing to start competing week in, week out until about September!
So, a semi brief overview of what I have done so far and my 2014 Grand Master Plan! I hope you continue to read my blogs, follow my tweets @JadeLallyT69 and generally support the Throwing Movement in the UK (the Throwing Movement is hopefully going to be UK athletes starting to making finals and winning some medals at Champs at all levels- junior, U23 and senior!)
